Producer

You’re on target.

Slant Six Games is seeking a Producer to establish and manage the production schedule of the development team (Engineering or Art). You’ll ensure the game stays on target throughout the development cycle, and communicate expectations and project priorities. You’re the relationship manager, the motivator, the communicator. You’ll enable the release of one of the most exciting AAA franchise action titles in the industry.

You are a seasoned Project Manager, working in partnership with the Technical Director or Art Director to manage the production schedule, including milestones and deliverables. You’ll be proactively identifying risks associated with meeting project milestones, and communicating regularly with team members to track the status of tasks and ensure deadlines are met. You’ll uphold the creative vision by communicating feature prioritization, stakeholder input/feedback, and product review/feedback. You will also be involved in team management, identifying staffing requirements, providing performance feedback, identifying coaching opportunities, and enabling knowledge transfer to more junior team members.

You’re successful because you have a proven ability to coordinate and manage projects, and scheduling large teams in a video game development organization, using various project management methodologies. You pride yourself in your ability to think outside the box in challenging and ambiguous environments, and can effectively partner with clients, leads and team members to establish alliances and aid in strategic planning. Your communication skills both one-on-one and in large group discussions are highly effective. Ideally, you are familiar with the work of the team you are leading because you have once done it yourself.

Build Engineer

You’re a troubleshooter.

Slant Six Games is seeking a Build Engineer to build, test, and deploy code, data and tools builds. You’ll troubleshoot problems in code builds and automation failures, run automated and manual tests, and document features of new builds in Wiki-based release notes. Your work is essential to speed along the creation of our exciting AAA franchise action title.

Your degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent work experience) has provided you with a solid foundation of C/C++ and C# programming skills. You have experience with building code and assets, as well as functional verification of compiled code. You have some scripting experience under your belt (Perl, Python, DOS match files) and experience with build tools (IDEs, make files). Most importantly, you have outstanding organizational skills, and strong written and verbal communication.

You’ll maintain parity of the PC build with console builds, profile and optimize the PC platform build, and develop tools to extend the data pipeline for the PC build where relevant.

Your 3+ years of experience in a production setting within the computer games industry has equipped you with demonstrable competency in C++. You have 1+ years of experience specifically in the area of Windows platform development, and 2+ years of DirectX experience (including recent experience with DirectX 10) for video games. You’re a pro with 3D math, possess extraordinary logical and organizational abilities, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Slant Six Outpaces the Competition

This weekend, a group of our hard working team members participated in the annual Vancouver Sun Run, a 10km race through our beautiful city with over 50,000 participants. Not only did we place FIRST in our division, beating out 118 other teams, but we placed tenth out of all the corporate teams that ran the race. The next time someone suggests that game developers are basement dwelling couch potatoes, perhaps you can suggest they take a look at our website. High performance game developers who can outrun you in the street.  Pretty impressive don’t you think?
