Brian’s career has centered on project and organizational management. Brian is responsible for overseeing all aspects of business development and operations at Slant Six Games. Prior to founding Slant Six Games, Brian founded and served as President and CEO for Barking Dog Studios, a Vancouver based game development studio. In 2002 Barking Dog was sold to Take2 Interactive’s Rockstar Games (makers of the Grand Theft Auto series of games).  Brian served as President of Rockstar Vancouver for 2 years following the sale, overseeing all aspects of the operations of the studio.  Prior to founding Barking Dog Studios, Brian worked for 5 years as a Producer with Radical Entertainment, which at the time was one of the largest independent developers in North America.  He holds a BA in Arts Management from San Francisco State University.

Dan is responsible for overseeing all product development at Slant Six Games.  He started his games career as a programmer for Gray Matter in 1991. Dan left Gray Matter in July 1996 for Radical Entertainment to work as a producer. In 1999 Dan left Radical to serve as a Senior Producer with Barking Dog Studios/Rockstar Vancouver, where he was responsible for overseeing the development of several PlayStation2 and PC titles including CounterStrike – Beta 5 and Global Operations.  Dan’s technical background is supplemented by extensive experience in project management including planning, technical and schedule risk evaluation, team motivation, 3rd party contract negotiation, and technical documentation.  Dan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Ryerson University and a diploma in Computer Programming from Honeywell.


Pete Doidge-Harrison, Director of Technologypete_mugshot2
Peter Doidge-Harrison is a veteran console engineer and project manager with an extensive background making some of the world’s most famous console and PC games. He has been in the industry since the mid nineties and his games have sold millions of units, on franchises such as Dungeon Keeper, FIFA, James Bond 007, Need For Speed and SOCOM. He now focuses on project and product management at Slant Six and specializes in leading technical and creative teams to deliver AAA quality games.


Scott Paterson, Art Directorscott_01_bw_sm
Scott Paterson is a graduate of Sheridan College with a degree in Classical Animation and has an 18 year background in various aspects of the entertainment industry. He founded Blackbird Animated Productions, an animation studio that created award winning shorts and commercials for television. Shortly thereafter, he acquired Meta Media, a post production studio which produced credits and subtitles for film and documentaries. In 1993 Scott re-located to Vancouver to work for Motion Works Inc. as Lead Artist/Senior Animator. In 2002 Scott accepted a position with Barking Dog Studios as Art Director and served as Art Director with Rockstar Vancouver.

Alan has over 15 years of professional software development, with over 12 years in the video game industry. Prior to game development, Alan began his software engineering career developing air traffic control software for Hughes Aircraft, gaining a background in large scale software architecture and development. He entered the game industry via Electronic Arts, where he spent 8 years, working on consistently AAA titles such as Need for Speed and the James Bond 007 franchise. His game development background spans almost all of the major areas, including front-end, rendering, physics, AI, tools, and pipeline work, and has taken on the role of Engineering Lead or Co-lead on numerous titles. At Slant Six, Alan is the Technical Director responsible for handheld and Wii game development. He holds an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Victoria (Canada).

Paul has been writing code for videogames since 1996 and is currently a technical director at Slant Six games. His specialist development areas are in low-level graphics rendering, special effects and data build pipelines. Professional interests are in technical management with an emphasis on process and work flow. Recreational interests include mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing and squash. Paul cordially invites anyone else in the industry to join him in any of the above. His credits include Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror (SCEA), Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain (SCEA), Sled Storm (Electronic Arts), SSX (Electronic Arts), and Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit


adam-11Adam Bullied, Creative Director
Adam started in the industry in 1997 at Radical Entertainment as an Environment Artist and Level Designer on ESPN Proboarder (PSX, PC) and an Environment Artist on FOX NHL Tonight (PSX). Thereafter he went to Relic Entertainment where he was Single Player Game Designer, Environment Designer, and part of the core creative team on Homeworld, PC Gamers Game of the Year for 1999, CGW’s Strategy Game of the Year for 1999, and still tied for fourth on Metacritic’s highest rated PC games of all time. He was then Single Player Game Designer and Story Writer/Narrative Designer on Homeworld2.  From there, he joined Black Box Games where he was Game Play Designer on EA NASCAR 2001 (PSX), and Game Designer on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (PS2). Subsequently he started an independent development company called Photonsoup Entertainment and was Designer and Producer on an innovative, experimental title called Bird (Xbox) which was developed through Microsoft’s Xbox Incubator program and Canada’s Telefilm New Media Fund.  He then worked as a freelance Game Design and Script Writer for several publishers including Microsoft, THQ, and EA Partners, for whom he contributed design writing to D.I.C.E.’s Battlefield2 (PC). In 2004 he partnered with THQ’s Kaos Studios where he did initial development and was Writer and Mission/Narrative Designer on Frontlines: Fuel of War (Xbox 360, PC). He also contributed level designs to Slant Six Game’s SOCOM: Confrontation (PS3).

Prior to his time in the videogame industry he worked in multimedia, SFX, and television, including serving as on-air-host and associate producer of the first season of High-Tech Culture, a digital-age affairs program on the Discovery Channel. He has a major in Film Studies with a minor in Communication from Simon Fraser University.  He is a lifelong, old-school, pen-and-paper RPG player and an avid photographer.

Lance Davis is a Chartered Accountant with strong industry experience. Lance has previously served as CFO for Radical Entertainment, Relic Entertainment, and Barking Dog Studios/Rockstar Vancouver. His area of expertise is in the realm of garnering financing and providing business structure to the companies he has been involved with. His experience in the technology industry provides Slant Six Games with the strong business foundation it requires to achieve its goals. In addition to his expertise in the financial realm, Lance contributes to Slant Six Games by working closely with senior management to provide direction for the Company, and to assist with all aspects of the administrative functions.


Slant Six Outpaces the Competition

This weekend, a group of our hard working team members participated in the annual Vancouver Sun Run, a 10km race through our beautiful city with over 50,000 participants. Not only did we place FIRST in our division, beating out 118 other teams, but we placed tenth out of all the corporate teams that ran the race. The next time someone suggests that game developers are basement dwelling couch potatoes, perhaps you can suggest they take a look at our website.
